Meet Greg Downes, location manager at Drysdale Funerals in Tewantin.

What do you enjoy about your job?
Unless someone has worked in the funeral industry, one will not appreciate the hard work and unusual working hours associated with serving our local community in this way. Having said that, the overflowing goodness and compassion offered by our team are unbelievably rewarding. The satisfaction of assisting families during a sensitive, sad and even joyous time, is indescribable. We all love what we do and do not take for granted the privilege we all have in serving our community in a most unique way.

How long have you been a location manager?
I have been working as the Location Manager since 2019,  following 8 ½ years as a Location Manager within the InvoCare business in Melbourne.

What do you enjoy in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love to go exploring the Sunshine Coast with my wife. We are loving being in an idyllic part of Australia, despite having left our family and adult children back home in Melbourne. We also love to get out and enjoy the many restaurants and relaxed lifestyle in Noosa. The river along Gympie Terrace hosts the most majestic sunsets every night! We explore South East Queensland and have already been on several weekends away in our caravan enjoying places like Tin Can Bay, Rainbow Beach and Hervey Bay.

Are there any special community groups you work with or support?
We support to Noosa Golf Club and enjoy the hospitality and a round of golf with the Veterans Club once a month and gladly present awards at these events. We also have formed a relationship with the Noosa Tewantin Bowls Club and will be making regular visits to their fine complex and facilities.

Together with many volunteers, I assist with community activities and meals held at The Salvation Army in Noosa. It is great to be a part of a community that is making a difference in people’s lives every day.

Testimonials

"The service provided by Drysdale was extremely professional and yet subtle. They were there in the background to deal with any problems should they arise which was very comforting. All went to plan."

"The care, concern, sensitivity and utter professionalism demonstrated by all the staff, namely Rachel and Greg. They were so kind and helpful in our hour of need. My family and I could not have been in better hands. Any problems were dealt with quietly, considerately and respectfully. And the service was beautiful."
