A record number of men, woman and children attended the RSL Anzac Day services in Tewantin-Noosa, commemorating the 95th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing by Australian troops during World War I.
Staff from Drysdale Funerals were up bright and early to join hundreds of other Aussies, young and old, who gathered at Tewantin’s cenotaph to commemorate and pay tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in war. They also placed a wreath at the cenotaph in memory of the fallen soldiers.
In the march were surviving veterans, their families, current soldiers, community groups and school children, ensuring that the ANZAC legend rightfully lives on across multiple generations. Demonstrating the ongoing nature of the sacrifice made by serving personnel six young Brisbane based soldiers have passed away on active duties during the past 12 months.
The participation of many younger families serves as a poignant reminder that Australia still has over 3,500 servicemen and women deployed on security and humanitarian missions overseas.
It was a moving service with the bugle’s Last Post bringing a tear to more than one eye.
Lest we forget.
